Early Childhood Center
Torah Day School's Early Childhood program offers a varied and stimulating program
emphasizing motor, social, and cognitive skills for children 18 months through 4 years old.
Active parent involvement is encouraged and parents are invited to school regularly to share activities with their children.
Our Philosophy
We encourage a child to make choices, with respect to him/herself, others and his/her surroundings to develop self-confidence and a positive self image.
We nourish a child’s heart and mind as we develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills to become well rounded and able to solve problems and adapt to new situations.
We educate children in a creative, supportive and warm Jewish environment, where Judaism is not just a subject, but a way of life!
Educational Goals
Our staff create a warm and happy environment where small children can grow and develop emotionally, cognitively and physically. We communicate a love for the beauty of our religion and culture, and use Torah values as a guide.
Early Judaic learning includes saying prayers and blessings; being exposed to the Aleph Bet; learning songs in Hebrew; and celebrating Jewish holidays and customs.
Children engage in age-appropriate activities to build the foundation for math, writing, social skills, and scientific understanding.
Daily Schedule
The daily schedule is planned to include active and quiet times, gross and fine motor activities and child-initiated as well as staff-initiated activities. Outdoor play is scheduled each day.
Planning for the classroom involves consideration of age appropriateness for the group and of individual appropriateness for each child. As each child learns differently, various modalities are incorporated in each lesson with the interests of the children in mind.
Classroom Set-Up
The classroom set-up comprises learning centers for blocks, art, dramatic play, books, manipulatives, and more. Centers are geared toward the children’s emotional, cognitive, and physical growth; while encouraging the children to make choices and to actively explore.
